〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Croach the Tracker
CHARACTER AGE: Unknown, but adult
SERIES: Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars, which is part of The Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast
CHRONOLOGY: Soon after the episode Wild, Wild Quest
CLASS: Hero
HOUSING: Random housing

BACKGROUND: Croach plays the "Tonto" role in a largely comedic space western series, except instead of a Native American on Earth, he's a native Martian on...well, Mars. As the best (and only) tracker on the planet, he was assigned to assist the human Marshal Sparks Nevada after Nevada saved Croach's tribe from a rampaging flood. This incurred a great deal of onus owed to Sparks, and Croach has been with him ever since (more or less.) More information can be found here.

PERSONALITY: Upon meeting Croach, a lot of people will come away with the impression that he's a very serious guy, and they wouldn't be wrong. In fact, he takes onus in particular extremely seriously—it's a Martian thing, keeping track of the obligation incurred by giving and receiving favors. It's not that he's petty, it's just that Croach will never let an onus go unpaid, even if it takes a long time. His honor couldn't take it, and he'd...probably get very drunk. Again.

Even past the onus thing, Croach still has a pretty serious demeanor. For a long time, he didn't have emotions, at least not how humans would recognize emotions. Over time and exposure to humans, though, you could say emotions grew in him. Sometimes he can't give them a name, express them or even know what he wants to do with them, but they're definitely there. He just doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve.

That said, in his heart Croach is a caring person who is known to act courageously in the face of danger, willingly facing that danger not just to pay back his onus but to protect those who need it. He is loyal, both to his tribe (on behalf of whom he spends a lot of time paying back onus) and his friends. He's even kind of...is there a word for patriotic, but directed toward a planet? Croach is that.

Croach is also a very particular sort of person. He strives to be accurate in his speech and (somewhat annoyingly) will point out inaccuracies in others', but not to be a know-it-all. He just doesn't see why you wouldn't be accurate. This extends to ranking categories of experiences they've gone through (ex. "This is the second most painful pain I have ever felt.") He does this a lot, actually.

Lest you think he's an all-around perfect guy, though, let me assure you—he has flaws. The slow development of his emotions is real, but there are other times where, well...it's more convenient not to show the really deep, personal, and complicated ones. On the flip side, when he's feeling the emotion of annoyance, you'll definitely know it. And while he is generally a nice guy, he's not afraid to get into an argument.

Also? He can sometimes be what humans would designate "a little petty."

Overall, though, Croach is just the type of buddy you'd like to have by your side in a jam...even if he refuses to respect the fact that you find his excretions gross.

POWER:
-Croach is imbued with Nah Notek (nanotech) making him extremely hard to kill. The Nah Notek has been known to absorb cosmic forces. However, it is rendered inert by alcohol.
-He has 28 senses. It is never specified what each sense is, but they're assumed to be based on/expansions of the normal senses—ex. Croach can probably see in normal light, UV light, etc. He's been known to detect things far outside the building he's in with these senses.
-Alien form
